The first thing to note with the Ring Solar Panel is that it is a very simple device, essentially it will give you a solar panel for a ring camera. The thing to bear in mind is that this has been designed exclusively for charging the Ring Spotlight camera and also the stickup camera, if you have a different camera even if it is from ring, we highly recommend checking the compatibility before you buy this.
As long as you have a camera that is compatible give you something that will easily charge your camera without any issues.
All you need to do to make the Ring Solar Panel work is to give it a few hours of direct sunlight every day. You would then find that your camera will be able to stay charged around the clock without using any battery power.
You will also get a very ample power connection as this gives you 13 feet of distance and the item dimensions are quite reasonable at 7.75 x 5.50 x 0.50”.
This will also require several hours of direct sunlight every day and you will also have the ability to recharge that will vary based on the device settings, the motion detection and also the sun exposure in area of placement.
So, a couple things to bear in mind with the Ring Solar Panel is that you will need to have some sort of solar power, this means that you will need to place in the vicinity of the sun a few hours a day. Plus, if you live in a place with very little light then this will probably not be suited.
The other thing to bear in mind is that you will have to adjust these settings on your device, if you want to maximise the power that you will be able to get from the solar charging. In short, if you have a lot of options turned on then you will find that the solar charger will not be able to charge your camera for as long.
That said, it will still give you a break from having to recharge the battery all of the time and it definitely gives you an extra power source that you can use that is relatively inexpensive. Things To Bear In Mind:
There are not really any standout features for the Ring Solar Panel, as essentially you are getting a solar panel that will enable you to power your cameras.
However, there were a few things that we wanted to mention to make sure that you are getting something that you can use, and you will also be able to get everything that you need from it.
Sunlight:
There is of course the need for sunlight, we highly recommend getting some actual son rather than just placing this in the daylight however it will work from the daylight.
The main thing to remember with the Ring Solar Panel, even though it sounds very obvious is that you will need to put the panel in a place where it can soak up some sun a few hours a day.
If you do not do this you may find that panel is ineffective, by making sure that you have enough son you will be able to use this without an issue and it will save you lots of time with having to recharge the batteries.
Placement:
The other thing that we highly recommend is to make sure that you have a good placement for the solar panel, so instead of just placing in the window you will want to make sure that it gets direct sunlight onto the solar panel part of the battery.
This again is very obvious, and we have no doubt that this is something that you would do is soon as you get the product out of the box. However, there are many reviews where people simply did not do this, and they run into problems with it not working as effectively as possible.
Multiple:
One of the best things about the Ring Solar Panel is that if you have a few different ring cameras, that are compatible with this solar panel you will be able to charge all of them. This makes the solar panel a must have if you want to be able to save on charging batteries all of the time.
Features:
We also advise you to make sure that you check the features that you have active with your ring cameras. This will have a direct effect the amount of battery that you are able to charge using the Ring Solar Panel. As we mentioned above, if you have motion detection and you have the night vision active and you want to use the camera at “full power” there is nothing wrong with this, but it will take longer to charge off of the solar panel. This is just something worth bearing in mind to make sure that you get the full use out of the solar panel.
Verdict:
We are really impressed with the Ring Solar Panel. It is inexpensive, it is also very easy to set up and essentially it gives you another option if you are looking to save on batteries.
The fact is that having to recharge the batteries all of the time of ring devices can get annoying, so by doing this you are able to save money in the long run and you will also be able to use the cameras for a far longer period of time without them running out of steam.
Main thing to remember taken from above, is to make sure that the solar panel is compatible with the camera that you want to use. This is very important because you do not want to buy a solar panel that will not work, in terms of placement you should be absolutely fine as the cord is quite long and you will be able to use this to place the solar panel.
